Terms of use
Last updated 21 October 2026
hush is a helper for tired parents, not a medical device or a safety system. Always check on your baby yourself. Prices and what is free or paid can change at any time, and purchases are not refundable except where the law or Google Play requires it.
1. Who we are
hush is made by Mario Ruci ("we", "us"). By installing or using hush you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. What hush is, and what it isn't
- hush plays sleep sounds, suggests nap times, keeps a sleep log, and can act as a baby monitor that notifies a paired phone when it hears crying.
- hush is not a medical device and is not meant to diagnose, monitor or prevent any medical condition, including sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). It does not monitor breathing, movement or temperature.
- hush does not replace supervision. Never rely on it as the only way to know your baby is safe. Always check on your baby yourself.
- Cry detection can miss crying or mistake other sounds for it. Alerts depend on both phones being switched on, charged, connected to the internet and allowed to run in the background, and on third-party services (Google and Expo) delivering notifications. Alerts can be late or not arrive at all.
- Volume levels are estimates for a typical phone speaker. Phones and rooms vary. Use a decibel meter if you need an exact reading.
- Nap suggestions and the age guide are general information, not medical advice. If you're worried about your baby's sleep or health, talk to a doctor or health visitor.
3. Prices and changes to them
- Some features are free and some need a purchase, as shown in the app and on Google Play at the time.
- We may change our prices and our pricing model at any time, including which features are free or paid, how long a free trial lasts, and whether something is sold as a one-time purchase or in another way. Changes apply from when they are published in the app or on Google Play.
- We may also add, change or remove features.
4. Purchases and refunds
- Purchases are made and processed through Google Play, under Google Play's terms. We never see your payment details.
- A purchase unlocks the feature on the Google account it was bought with. It is personal to you and can't be transferred or resold.
- All purchases are final and we do not offer refunds, except where Google Play's refund policy or the consumer law that applies to you gives you a right to one. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Refund requests go to Google Play.
- A free trial lets you try the feature before you buy, so you can decide whether it works for you.
5. Using hush properly
Use hush only for its purpose: caring for your own child or a child in your care. Don't use it to listen to people without their knowledge or consent, and follow the laws on recording and monitoring where you are. Don't copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app except as the law allows.
6. Your data
How hush handles information is explained in the privacy policy.
7. No warranty
hush is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will work without interruption or errors, detect every cry, deliver every alert, or suit any particular purpose.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss or harm that results from relying on hush instead of supervising your child, from missed or late alerts, or from services we don't control. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for hush in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't be excluded by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The courts at our place of residence in Switzerland have jurisdiction. If you use hush as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can also bring a claim in the courts there.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version will be posted on this page with a new date. If you keep using hush after a change, you accept the updated terms.
